DPW Construction Updates
The Department of Public Works is currently performing construction at various locations across the city. The current focus are as follows:
- Hotel Collapse Site Rehabilitation
- 2024 Central Business District (CBD) Right of Way Project
- 2024 French Quarter (FQ) Right of Way Project
- Bourbon Street Bollard Assessment & Replacement Project
- Downman Road / Lincoln Beach Project
- Sidewalk Repairs

Hotel Collapse Site Rehabilitation
Scope: Waterline installation, drainage upgrades, pavement, and sidewalk restoration
Status:

N. Rampart Street: Street restoration is ongoing, with one lane currently open to traffic.

Iberville Street: One side of the street has been paved. Sidewalk work has resumed, and crews are currently repairing a drainpipe. Street restoration work will follow.

Canal Street: Sidewalk work and milling operations are currently underway.

Burgundy Street: Waterline repairs are scheduled this week, followed by milling operations.

2024 CBD Right of Way Project
Scope: Roadway resurfacing, re-striping, sidewalk repairs, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps, and driveway apron repairs

- Old Poydras St (S. Broad - S. Galvez)
- Perdido St. (S. Galvez St. – Claiborne Ave.)
- Perdido St. (Loyola Ave. – St. Charles Ave.)
- Gravier St. (LaSalle St. – Loyola Ave.)
- Union St. (S. Rampart St. – Carondelet St.)
- Natchez St. (Camp St – Tchoupitoulas St.)
- N. Maestri Pl. (St. Charles Ave. – Camp St.)
- S. Maestri Pl. (St. Charles Ave. – Camp St.)
- Girod St. (Loyola Ave. – Convention Center Blvd.)
- Howard Ave. (Loyola Ave. – Tivoli Circle)
- S. Prieur St. (Perdido St. – Tulane Ave.)
- Carondelet St. (Poydras St. – Canal St.)
- St. Charles Ave. (Poydras St. – Canal St.)
- S. Broad St. (Howard Ave.- Euphrosine St.)
Status: The following locations have been added to the 2024 CBD Right of Way project, with initial construction activities such as patching and milling already underway:
- S. Broad St. (Howard Ave. – Euphrosine St.)
- Old Poydras St. (S. Galvez – Dead End)
- S. Johnson St. (Perdido St. – Tulane Ave.)
- S. Rampart St. (Canal St. – Tulane Ave.)
- Gaiennie St. (S. Peters St. – Convention Center Blvd.)
- John Churchill Chase St. (Annunciation St. – Dead End at Calliope St.)
- Poeyfarre St. (Annunciation St. – Magazine St.)
- Constance St. (John Churchill Chase St. – Andrew Higgins Blvd.)
Last week, daytime construction activities included concrete work on Union St. and Carondelet St., while nighttime milling operations took place on St. Charles Ave. and Natchez St. This week, crews continue milling operations at various locations throughout the CBD. At night, crews were milling on Gravier St. Milling and paving operations in the CBD are scheduled to occur nightly, Sunday through Thursday.

2024 FQ Right of Way Project
Scope: Roadway resurfacing, re-striping, sidewalk repairs, installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps, and driveway apron repairs
Locations:
- Gov. Nicholls Street: 600 – 1000 blocks
- Ursulines Avenue: 500 – 1000 blocks
- St. Philip Street: 600 – 1000 blocks
- St. Ann Street: 600, 900 – 1000 blocks
- St. Louis Street: 1100 block
- Madison Street: 600 block
- St. Peter Street: 700-1000 block
- Conti Street: 500 – 600 / 900 – 1100 blocks
- Clinton Street: 200 block
- Chartres Street: 100 – 600 / 800 – 1300 blocks
- Frenchmen Street: 400 – 600 blocks
- Burgundy Street: 2200 – 2500 blocks
- Decatur Street: 2200 – 2500 blocks
Status: Construction activities began on December 2 and are expected to continue through February 2025, weather permitting. Crews are working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Sunday. For the latest Traffic Advisory with detailed traffic impacts, click here.
This week, crews are performing milling and paving operations in the 600 – 1000 blocks of Ursulines Ave., 600 – 1000 blocks of Gov. Nicholls St., 2200 – 2500 blocks of Burgundy St., and the 2200 – 2500 blocks of Decatur St. Paving operations are taking place in the 500 block of Conti St. and in the 200 block of Clinton St. Additional milling operations will occur in the 3600 – 4300 blocks of Royal St.
Bourbon Street Bollard Assessment & Replacement Project
Scope: Replacing old bollards with new removable stainless-steel bollards and sidewalk repairs at various locations on Bourbon Street between Canal and St. Ann
Status: Crews recently completed the roadway work on both sides of Bienville Street, the south side of Toulouse Street, and the north side of St. Peter Street. Additionally, the sidewalk work on the south side of St. Peter Street is now finished. On Saturday, January 5, crews remobilized on Bourbon Street at the north and south sides of St. Louis Street and the north side of Toulouse Street.

Downman Road / Lincoln Beach Project
Scope: Road resurfacing, striping, sidewalk repairs, and underground utility updates
Status:
Downman Rd. (Hayne Blvd. to Chef Menteur Hwy.): This week, sidewalk and driveway work is ongoing and scheduled to be completed. Striping work remains.
Lincoln Beach Blvd. and Providence Pl: Construction on Lincoln Beach Blvd. and Providence Place is complete, with crews finalizing remaining tasks near Wesley Barrow Stadium.

Sidewalk Repairs
Scope: Repairing and upgrading concrete and specialty sidewalks (brick/stone)
Status:

Camp Street (Canal to Poydras): All work is complete.

Dumaine Street (Dauphine to Royal): All work is complete.

400 Governor Nicholls Street: All work is complete.

Lafayette Square (St. Charles to Baronne): All work is complete.

Rampart (Poydras to Canal): Work is ongoing and scheduled to continue through this week.

Jackson Square: Crews are resetting broken stones and grouting areas where grout is missing. This work is expected to continue through the end of the month.
